It was nice for work especially when we first moved there in 1999. But things change, especially when you realize you have enough time to retire.

I grew up in Palm Beach County. It was beautiful in the 1950's and 60's.
By the 1980's it was getting way too crowded with people from other places. Especially "up north".
My wife and I made our escape to the piney woods in 1995.

Dogs, a horse, chickens, vegetable garden, life on a dirt road is paradise.
Cows make the best neighbors.

We aren't that far out, but 25 minutes east of Pensacola. A good friend is another 20 minutes east and they live on a mini ranch with horses. I wanted a bit more open space but my wife's favorite sport is shopping, so couldn't be too far out
