Game Warden Encounters and Stories

I had a game warden walk right up to me while I was gutting a deer and I thought I was getting a ticket for sure. Turned out, he was super friendly and just wanted to see if I needed any help. Anyone else had a similar unexpected encounter?

I know an FWC officer very well.
And have interacted with several others. They are all good guys.

A# while back my son shot a very large hog, well over 250m lbs. about a mile in. We were going to give up on moving it and had hiked out to my Jeep. When loe and behold here comes a FWC Officer. Checked our paper work and we explained our problem and asked could we drive in and get the hog. He would not give us permission to drive in to get the hog but what he did was unlock the gate and then he took my son on the Gator with him, drove in got the hog onto the gator and brought it out for us. I thought that was a very nice and helpful thing he had done. Well beyond what he had to do. Thanks FWC

Same here. Up till now, if I had never bought any hunting-related permits or licenses, no one would be the wiser. At least it would make me feel like I'd paid for something if they'd check my quota permit!

Since I moved to Fl I don't hunt any public or WMA land, so no game wardens around. But I see them from time to time when I'm fishing. They have all been polite, respectful, & personable & even helpful.
On the 4th we went to Cedar Key with the canoe to do some fishing. Before fishing, we use cast nets to catch our own bait. Near the boat ramp my friend cast his 6' net right over a pylon & it wasn't coming off.
A woman standing near by knew one of the game wardens on the air host they just launched & she called them over to help us. The two wardens were very cool & came right over on the air boat & removed the net, we had a little joking & wished them a safe day. We saw them later in the day out on the water, they just waived & went on. In the last 3.5 yrs of fishing at Shell Mound & Cedar Key, we've only been asked if we had fishing licenses 1 time. My friend & I told him we both have the Sportsmen Gold licenses. The warden actually thanked us & wished us a good day.
Not too many egomaniac Ahole game wardens out there like most reg cops.

I have been hunting a type 2 area for about 8 years. Then the group broke up, so I decided I would hunt Point Washington.

The day before opening day I stop by at the convenience store and bought a hunting license and a management stamp.

About an hour after sun up I'm out in the woods, and here comes a Warden. I'm not worried. I'm legal. I wave. He stops.

Let me see your hunting license. Here you go. Okay, let me see your management stamp. Here you go. Okay, let me see your quota permit.

Damn. Been so long since I hunted a type one I forgot all about that nine day quota.

I explained that to him. I told him I'd only been out in the woods for about an hour. Had not shot my gun. I would just get back in the truck and leave.

He says "yeah you will. Just as soon as I get through writing you this ticket."

Guess he had a quota.

That's the only time I've ever had any kind of interaction with a warden - hunting or fishing.
