Having grown up in Fort Lauderdale (Davie Blvd. was 2 lanes then) we went fishing a lot off the Las Olas Bridge (On the intracoastal) for snook and at the FPL Spill ways for tarpon, watching them roll was really neat. Also went out the Natural area. Got the boat stuck in the saw grass and someone had to get out and push us off. My buddy and I convinced the guy whose dad owned the boat the boat his dad would be mad if he came home without the boat. This was after having a gator follow our catch right up to the boat. He got out chest deep and pushed it off. Never went out ion the boat again. Quit fishing off the Las Olas Bridge after things got rowdy on the beach and guys in cars started throwing bottles at the guys fishing. as they drove buy.

Wow, that's a crazy story, fishing in Fort Lauderdale sounds intense, getting stuck in the sawgrass, a gator following your catch, and then dealing with rowdy crowds throwing bottles off Las Olas Bridge

I think the getting stuck in sawgrass was due to ignorance and not paying attention. Las Olas bridge Full moon live shrimp incoming tide.= Snook (sometimes). I watched Fort Lauderdale turn from a sleepy town to a mess. I think it started when Spring Break chose Fort Lauderdale Beach as the place to be.
