Good evening to All.
Got a little squirrel hunting in today. It was windy as heck and chilly today. I saw 4 today. Not able to get a shot off at 2 of them. 1 busted me, amd the other just popped up, hauled butt up the tree and was lost in the canopy.
The other 2 jumped up to the side of a tree a hesitated a little bit. The 1 of them I missed, I shot to low, I believe. I did get the next one though. He was about 4' up the tree 20 plus yards away.
The gun i used is a Kibler 16ga Flintlock Fowler. Really nice gun.

Glad to finally see someone else post a hunting pic besides me.
I don’t squirrel hunt anymore after raising 5 diff gray squirrels as pets. But I sure will belly up to the table if someone else has cooked them.
Squirrel hunting will always have a special place in my heart bc it’s what I first started hunting at 8yrs old with my grandpaw.
It’s pretty cool you using the Kibler 16ga Fowler to do it too.
I learned on an old Savage .410 break action but in my teens switched to a .22 only for squirrel hunting.

It was nice to get out, I'll tell ya what. I recon if I was to raise a gray squirrel or two as pets it would hard to shoot the little fellas.
Squirrel hunting it probably my favorite, maybe spring turkey hunting. I love all hunting, but as you stated it was the beginning.
My brother used to take me hunting. Great memories. I was about 7 or 8. First few hunts was single shot .410. I was about ten years old when I started use my Grandpa Chubb's, Steven Savage .22/.410 , man I loved that gun.
This was the first time hunting with this Kibler Fowler. It's unbelievably fun to hunt with thst smoothbore. Ignition is fast.
I do enjoy Fried Squirrel, smashed taters, and some corn...

Hopefully, I'll be able to post some more pictures of a hunt i have coming up. A good buddy of mine has a quota permit for a Wilg Hog Hunt at Half Moon WMA the 12th-14th of December.
I not sure if I'll take my .54 caliber Kibler Woodsrunner or my Kibler .58 caliber Kibler Colonial Flintlock Smoothbore bore. Either way I'm hoping to get me a good eaten size pig..... We'll see!!!

I hope your hunt goes well, I’m looking forward to details & pics.
I’m hoping that my only friend that I hunt with can get out with me a time or two to do some WMA hog hunting with our sidelocks as well in the very near future.
I still need to put 2 more deer in my freezer this season too.

I have a family of Fox squirrels that I enjoy watching and I did raise two grey squirrels. I named them Dit & Dah (Morse code), as I am a ham radio operator. When the grey squirrel population gets into large numbers I start thinning them out, as they get into my attic and cause problems. BTW - I have a squirrel stew recipe that was posted in the old Varmint Hunter Magazine years ago that was the creation of the Jack Daniels Distillery crew that is absolutely terrific and I will share it if interested. Good luck with your squirrel hunting.

Dave,
Nice little post, thanks. I think them big ole fox squirrels are pretty neat. I like watching while hunting, if lucky enough to see them.
I've talked or read posts were other folks have raised squirrels as pets. Most of them found after a big storm. Henry my Ole Slough Dog probably would not like that...🤣.
I'd like to see that squirrel stew recipe.
I might just try it.
Thanks.
