It's mostly nonsense designed to separate people from their money. A 'tactical' flashlight is just a durable flashlight with aggressive branding. Tactical pens are overpriced pens. Some gear deserves the label, but 90% of it is marketing hype for regular products painted black and marked up 200%.

Ofthen that is the case. But occasionally the tactical description is accurate. Read carefully and shop wisely.

It’s kind of funny how tactical gear that actually stands up to real use usually looks super plain and dull. All those flashy, eye-catching pieces tend to wear out quickly once they leave the safety of the gun safe.

I think it's funny that guys who have never even been in the military have a fetish for "tactical".
Agree. I think the gun industry is experiencing a "Women's Fashion" experience!! I've watched a few in my community lay out big money for their "Tactical" gear and become weekend warriors - By Rambo'ing empty beer cans on Saturdays they get a big rush. However, it's their money and they are entitled to spend it however they want and use whatever they buy however they want. I do know that the local gun shops really like seeing them walk through the door. Whatever winds your clock - Right!!

I used to be pretty skeptical about all this tactical stuff, thought it was mostly just hype and paying extra for black paint and attitude. But after putting some of it through the grind, I have to admit, some of it actually holds up better. Still, a lot feels like style over substance
