Thanksgiving story

About 5 or 6 years ago I was at my Aunt's home in MS near TX. All the cousins were there and I had my S&W revolver with me, as I carry it when traveling.
One of my male cousins and I started talking about small pistols to carry concealed. He showed me his Ruger LCP22LR. That was such a neat pistol. He could carry it in his jeans pocket and not really show.

A few years later, I inherited a lot of 22LR ammo from my Dad. So, I now have a LCP22LR. I'll have to take a photo of it to show it off.
But that is how Thanksgiving helped me choose a new pistol.

Nice pistol but don't bet your life on any rimfire cartridge. .22lr is better than .25 acp ballistically, but I would bet on the .25 to fire every time. And understand, I am not recommending .25acp. Joe

Ruger makes some nice firearms and I have a number of them; however, in my opinion, the .22LR might be better than nothing, but for my personal protection I would start with, at least, a 9mm. As Pharmer adequately stated "don't bet your life on any rimfire cartridge". I have a Taurus .22 pistol and love it! I live in a rural area and the rattlesnakes are everything but extinct so when I'm out beating the brush you can bet the .22 is with me, but when it comes to invaders that threaten my existence then we're talking one of my 9mm to 10mm pistols.
Again, just my opinion. Happy Thanksgiving....

It’s kinda funny how a casual chat with family can end up pointing you toward a gun youve never even had on your radar. I’d really like to see a photo of yours when you get a moment. Those simple Thanksgiving gatherings often lead to the best gear choices we make.

I’ve always felt that .22LR pocket pistols don’t get the recognition they deserve. Sure, they might not be the strongest option out there, but they’re super convenient to carry, affordable to shoot, and they bring back those warm, nostalgic feelings tied to family memories.

Having collected for many years I own guns in calibers ranging from .22 to .44 mag and beyond, and I don't think that the .22 gets the respect it deserves. While it might not stop a bull elephant from charging you it is adequate for most situations, including self defense. The one question I like to ask folks who disparage the .22 is would they like to be the target of one being fired.
