Yesterday after my target shooting session, I took my Summit Mini Viper self climber into the woods for the first time this season & I picked out what looks like a good spot.
I saw 2 doe’s pass thru at 50yds around 7:15, ain’t seen a dang thing else though.
I was whooped & sore from a long day yesterday & far more physical exertion than im use to these days. It took every ounce of willpower to gear up & head out into the woods this morn. I took forever to get ready & I was late as F getting to my treestand, but I made it & that’s what counts right.
I will prob hunt until lunchtime & head back to the house.
Here’s me & my Woodman Arms .45 Omega Smokekess muzzleloader up in my treestand

I love this gun more than either one of my exwives & thats a fact!
With the 24" barrel & this light thumbhole stock, its fun to handle & shoot & its first trip up in my self climber was fantastic. Its perfect for that. I do kinda feel like I'm cheatin on my trusty ole Accura V2 .45 though. That gun has done 99% of my hunting with me up in a treestand. I've taken 24 deer with it in the last 6 seasons & I've put well over 800 various rounds thru it. Its going to have to play " second fiddle " to this Omega now. Its still got that " new gun smell " ya know. LMAO

I saw a total of 15 deer today. The only 2 legal bucks I saw, I couldn't get a shot off at. One of the bucks was hot on a doe's a$$ & couldn't even be slowed down. Of course, I could have headshot either of the 2 illegal bucks a half dozen times easily. I moved my stand another 60yds to put myself in between both of the paths the deer were moving on this morn. When I cocked the hammer back on my Omega & stood up to try to get a shot at the only decent buck ) the one chasing the doe, I got busted by 3 does & a yearling spike that had snuck up 20 yds behind me. They stood around blowing & trying to figure out what I was for nearly 30 min. I was watching other deer that were trying to figure out what the hell those does kept blowing at. Pretty cool to watch. What was a bit weird today is, that I didn't hear or see a single turkey the entire time. Thats extremely rare!
All in all, it was an amazing morning to be in my treestand again. I'm going to try to head back out in the morn for another half day hunt. Then I have a friend coming over to hit my shooting range with me.
