My favorite for home defense is an 18” police Mossberg 500 filled with no.1 buckshot.

My fav bedroom weapon is a Keltec K7 w/ 8 rounds of 000 buckshot. For overall home defense, I prefer .45ACP. Easier to keep nearby for quicker access.

Welcome from rural NE Florida.
Since my biggest worry is a predator after our laying hens, my "home defense" firearm is a Stoeger Uplander SXS double barrel shotgun in 20 ga.

If you mean "collapse of society" defense, that would be my Romanian AK which stays handy with one 30 round magazine inserted in the weapon and 7 more loaded magazines ready next to it.
