Hog hunting strategies on wmas?

Hi all,

I've been hunting pigs recently on public land and have been struggling to find any. I've seen plenty of sign, some very fresh but no luck

From what I understand you dont want to sit in one area or walk super slow like deer hunting. Instead cover lots of ground.

Are you guys staying on trails or going off trail and just bumping them. Whats your strategy

When I’m out on public land and I notice fresh signs but no pigs around, it usually indicates they’re moving through quickly and finding a thicker spot to bed down than I’d expect. What’s worked best for me is a mix of covering ground and veering off the main trail when the signs heat up. I don’t stay on the main paths for long since pigs rarely linger there unless they’re just crossing.
