I've been curious about what folks wear to the range. I’m not talking about full gear; just everyday clothes.

Recently, I've been paying closer attention when I go. It seems like a lot of people are in camo, but honestly, it kind of stands out to me. I get that it might make sense if you’re deep in the woods or hunting, but for just running drills or shooting some mags, it feels a bit much.

So, I've been sticking to neutral clothes. I like jeans, a plain shirt, and sturdy boots. It's not flashy, comfortable, and, most importantly, I think it’s safe — definitely no sandals for me.

I’m wondering if anyone else feels similarly? Do you think I’m overthinking it, or is there a certain vibe we should be aiming for at the range? What do you all usually wear?

I only go to an outdoor range so what I wear depends on the weather. This time of year it's shorts and a T-shirt with tennis shoes. In the cooler months it's jeans and a sweatshirt and jacket when needed. The range I go to is not typically frequented by the tacticool crowd...and they look out of place if they do show up.

I wear the same clothes I would wear if I were going to a store. The only difference is that at the range, I wear either a Stetson or Resistol straw hat to keep the sun out of my eyes.

For public ranges, the only reqired items are eyes, ears and closed toe shoes. The weather dictates what I wear.

LEO range, same requirements but I always wear long pants and long sleeve shirts for prone and barricade practice.

Weather and what I am shooting...... hot and pistol, T-shirt and shorts, running shoes. High power rifle XTC (200,300,600) long pants, T shirt, put on sweatshirt and shooting coat, along with boots for stability....... Army guy but no camo....... only hunt commies and criminals!

I prefer a flourescent orange speedo and flip flops. BWAHAHA 😋

Wear what you want to wear. I go shoot at our club in regular street clothes. Don't want to stand out once I leave the range and have other things to do. Same goes for CCW clothing. I don't were tactical vest such as 5.11 Shooters Vest as those are called shoot me first vest.

100% agree

Since my range is in my backyard I could wear my birthday suit if I wanted to, but I haven’t, yet.
It totally depends on the weather. I’m a blue collar - jeans, T-Shirt, boots & ballcap kinda guy, so that’s what I’m wearing
Likewise - My range is out my back door. The weather dictates what I have on that day and that's what goes to the range. If I were going to a public or club range I would dress according to what I planned to do once at the range (skeet, trap, pistol or rifle) - comfortable for the occasion.

Where what you feel comfortable in as long as it meets range rules. Keep your ccw handy going back to the car. A buddy and I were confronted by 3 guys when leaving the indoor range in Miramar, FL. Buddy told biggest guy its not smart to threaten someone carrying a bag of guns. Dude replied, you are leaving the range, you're out of bullets. The look on his face as his 1911 came out from under his shirt and a little keltec p3at out of my pocket. 3 guys took off and as we walked inside to report it the police came flying up. Seems someone inside was watching on camera and called. So what to wear? This is America, wear what you want but don't forget your concealed carry because bad guys see you as a target no matter how you dress
