When you check out the latest announcements, do you notice any genuine advancements in service pistols, or is it just a bunch of marketing hype trying to make things look fresh?

It’s a mix of both but it definitely leans more towards marketing. The integration of optics has really taken a step forward in recent years. But for every significant improvement, there seem to be 5 new color options or texture tweaks being marketed as brand-new models. The pistol market is pretty established so genuinely groundbreaking changes are few and far between.

One of the bigger changes I’ve noticed recently is how optics-ready slides are becoming the norm. Ten years ago, that was rare but now nearly every duty pistol comes with that feature.

Most new service pistols are just small upgrades, better triggers, optic cuts but nothing groundbreaking. Marketing just spins it like it’s huge...

I generally don't pay much attention to these announcements because what a particular Service, Military or Police, is looking for in a weapon probably is not what I'm looking for. I zero in on my needs and focus on that when viewing possible additions.
