I fumbled a reload on stage three and it cost me a solid four seconds, which doesn't sound like much until you're standing there watching your whole match slip away over something that small. I went home furious at myself, the kind of furious that actually does something useful for once.
So I reloaded that exact gun, from that exact position, on that exact side, five hundred times over the next two weeks basically refusing to let it happen again. The next match put me in that same position and it ended up being the fastest reload I've ever done in competition by a clear margin. Sometimes the failure is annoying in the moment but it's also doing its job if you actually let it.
