My cousin has a Viper G2 and he keeps on pushing me to buy one since it’s a great option for someone just starting with semi-auto and now I’m starting to be interested. Has anyone here actually tried it out?

I googled Viper G2 and a Tristar semiautomatic shotgun was the top result.

Since the thread was started in the handgun forum, please clarify if you are interested in handguns or shotguns.

Sorry about that! I meant to bring up the TriStar Viper G2 shotgun. My cousin has been going on and on about his, and now I’m really interested. I thought I’d see if anyone here has actually fired one. I didn’t even realize I put this in the handgun section until you pointed it out. Appreciate it! If anyone has used the Viper G2 for hunting or clays, I’d love to hear how it’s held up.

Most auto-shucking shotguns these days are clones of either Benelli (inertia driven) or Beretta (gas driven).

Gas guns weigh more and are easier on your shoulder. If you are sitting in a duck blind, on a bucket in a dove field or propping your gun in a rack to wait your turn to shoot in a tournament, weight is not much of a concern.

Inertia guns are lighter and more pleasant to tote if you are walking with pointers, stomping heavy cover for roosters, walking a pack of hounds in the deer / rabbit woods, or running and gunning chasing a distant gobbler.

Inertia guns fit my style better than gas guns.
