He was going by feel because the measure seemed right. When I had him weigh a charge, it came in 0.4 grains heavy. It was not dangerous in that setup but it was not where you want to be, especially near the top of a load. It reinforced something simple...always zero the scale before you start.

Yeah… that’s a good reminder, a half-step skipped at the start is where most loading mistakes quietly come from.
 
Retired from the Airlines as a pilot I developed a "before starting" check list"for my reloading hobby. Airplane check list kept me of of Harms Way for over 30 ysrs and also using one in reloading has kept my reloading shack from going into orbit. Try it - It works!!
